Description

Light Alarm Kit

The Light Alarm kit allows you to build an alarm circuit that beeps a small (but very loud) buzzer upon detecting too much light. The sensitivity of the light sensor can be changed with the onboard potentiometer, and component values on the PCB can be changed if needed to increase or decrease the rate of the buzzer.

Because the buzzer is a 5V device, this circuit needs a 5V supply which can be obtained using a 7805 regulator or using another MitchElectronics kit such as the Simple Power Supply and the Simple Power Module SMD Trainer kit. If the buzzer is removed, the board can be powered from a 9V PP3 battery and an external buzzer circuit can then be used that is compatible with 9V supplies.

Applications

The Light Alarm kit is an excellent project for those wanting to learn about photodetectors, how they work, and how they can be used in trigger circuits. This kit also teaches how logic circuits work, the function of flip flops, and how comparators can be used to convert an analogue signal into a digital signal. Additionally, this is also excellent for those looking to create basic security systems as well as those who want to train their soldering capabilities.

Notes

Note that product specifics such as output frequency depend on the tolerance of the components. The numbers provided here are an approximation only. Also take note that the estimated delivery is not guaranteed (unless special delivery is chosen) and free delivery has a maximum waiting time of two weeks. Any product that is returned which is built using lead solder is ineligible for a refund.
